Dining Room Makeover

Here is a dining room makeover I recently completed.  I also made over the family room (along with other rooms still to be revealed) that I posted about here.

As I mentioned in my earlier post, my client just wanted to make their home more welcoming and comfortable without spending a million bucks, as they will most likely only be in this home for a few more years.

We did not do any painting and they already had all their major furnishing for the space. I'll be honest, I was a little worried about what I was to come up with the burgundy dining chairs!  But, somehow it all seemed to come together. Here is the plan I came up with:

And here is how it turned out!

My clients already had the mirror, console table, and accessories shown in the below photo.  They were just scattered around the house, so I just rounded them up and put them together.

I think the space turned out great!  My clients were also very happy with how it turned out.  They said they just want to come and 'sit' in the room because it is just so warm!

  1. Great job, Melissa! I love the color you chose for the chairs. Maroon compliments the overall look of the room. It looks very classy without looking boring. A problem with interior designing though, is that some designers like to keep it simple, but sometimes border on the boring side. Oh well, yours is definitely far from boring. :D

My Favorite Way to Hide Toys in My Family Room

We were is desperate need of something to hide toys in our family room.  In addition, I really needed something to go along the back our loveseat.  Below, is basically the view you get when you walk into our home.  I didn't want people to walk in & the first thing they see is the bare back of our loveseat. One day, I was meandering around TJ Maxx & spotted this cute storage ottoman.  Right away, I knew it needed to come home with me! It has proved to be a fantastic purchase for us!  My kids can easily get toys in & out of it.  It is also a very convenient place to sit & put your shoes on before heading out the door.  In addition, it can easily be moved around to the main sitting area if extra seating is ever needed. You KNOW you have made a good purchase when your husband has said TWICE, "Melissa, buying that ottoman was a really good idea."  Need some other ideas on how to hide toys?   Cute baskets/bo...

Project Reveal: Church Foyer Makeover

I apologize for being a little MIA on this blog lately!  Life has been busy lately working with local clients, my family visiting, & working on our newly purchased home. Recently, I completed a project that I would like to share.  A local church hired me to help them redecorate their foyer area.  They wanted something new, fresh & modern that would go along with the existing paint, flooring, and lighting. Here are the BEFORE photos: This is what it looks like now!
