Guest Post: Ghost Chairs Make Me Happy

Hi, everyone, I’m Susi and I write as a guest blogger for Design Shuffle, a fabulous social media site that promotes interior designers and their work from around the world. My writing focuses on things I'm passionate about: interior design, home furnishings, decorating ideas, gardening, travel and art. I get to look at gorgeous things all day and write about them. I'm a very lucky girl!

Thanks, Melissa, for inviting me and Design Shuffle to visit Rooms today! I am excited to be here because ghost chairs really do make me happy. Designed by Philippe Stark in 2002 based on a classic Louis XVI chair, the ghost chair is a minimalist chair that feels extravagant. I know a ghost chair has been on the “must have” list of many designers and design lovers for the past several years. I think one would make a great desk chair for my home office. What do you think? Have one? Want one? Here are some great pics to get you inspired. Enjoy!

The ghost chair comes in a range of “clear” colors that have the barest hint of color. Can you see the Louis XVI design lines?

The ghost chair also comes in tinted shades that give it slightly more presence in the room but keeps the transparent nature of the chair intact. Love the pink.

A sophisticated contemporary kitchen is the perfect space for a set of ghost chairs. Their elegant lines work well with the chandelier.

A smoke tinted ghost chair paired with a metal console table makes for a glamorous vanity in sophisticated bathroom designs like this one. The polycarbonate plastic is great for damp environments or even outdoor use.

The classic lines and translucent appearance let the ghost chair seamlessly blend into any style. Mixed with an eclectic collection of chairs, the ghost chair looks right at home.

The Louis ghost chair plays well with others, mixing in with contemporary, antique, and natural design elements.

The ghost chair looks fantastic when paired with other design classics, like the Saarinen Tulip table. A loose cushion makes the chair more comfortable.

There is an interior design trend of mixing ghost chairs with sheepskin, which makes me think of ice and fur. The ghost chair is comfortable on its own but the sheepskin definitely helps it stand out in a room.

My Favorite Way to Hide Toys in My Family Room

We were is desperate need of something to hide toys in our family room.  In addition, I really needed something to go along the back our loveseat.  Below, is basically the view you get when you walk into our home.  I didn't want people to walk in & the first thing they see is the bare back of our loveseat. One day, I was meandering around TJ Maxx & spotted this cute storage ottoman.  Right away, I knew it needed to come home with me! It has proved to be a fantastic purchase for us!  My kids can easily get toys in & out of it.  It is also a very convenient place to sit & put your shoes on before heading out the door.  In addition, it can easily be moved around to the main sitting area if extra seating is ever needed. You KNOW you have made a good purchase when your husband has said TWICE, "Melissa, buying that ottoman was a really good idea."  Need some other ideas on how to hide toys?   Cute baskets/bo...

Project Reveal: Church Foyer Makeover

I apologize for being a little MIA on this blog lately!  Life has been busy lately working with local clients, my family visiting, & working on our newly purchased home. Recently, I completed a project that I would like to share.  A local church hired me to help them redecorate their foyer area.  They wanted something new, fresh & modern that would go along with the existing paint, flooring, and lighting. Here are the BEFORE photos: This is what it looks like now!
