I just wanted to share a dining room transformation! Here is the 'After' Shot. The great thing about this transformation is that it only took a few changes to really make it shine! We picked out a graphic and bold fabric for new custom drapery panels.  We kept the same drapery rod and hardware.  In addition, we also selected a new wool looped rug to replace the oriental one that my client had grown tired of.  The last major change, was the paint color. Changing the wall color to a beautiful gray really helped to brighten the space.  The same gray color was already in the foyer and living room, so painting the dining room the same color really helped with flow. My client did a great job finding new lamps and mirror to replace the old. This is what the room liked like before. And again here is the after!

Which do you prefer symmetrical or asymmetrical design? Balance is the even distribution of weight in a space.  Balance is essential for a well-designed space.  Two ways to achieve balance is through a symmetrical or asymmetrical arrangement. In a symmetrical arrangement one side of the room mirrors the other side.  The same furnishings are used on  each  side of the room. via via via Asymmetrical arrangements are often times a little trickier to achieve.  The furnishings on each side of the room are different but the visual weight is still distributed evenly. My parents are visiting right now, so it was a good excuse to take a weekend trip to Charleston.  Being new to SC, none of us had been there before. We stayed in N. Charleston (it was a little more budget friendly) in the Spring Hill Suites by Marriot. The rates were surprisingly well priced, and it was refreshing how modern the decor was. hotpads.com hotpads.com I took only a few million pictures of historic Charleston!  I seriously wanted to snap a picture of about every home and all it's details!  Here are some of my favorites.  There are kind of a lot... I am pretty sure I fell in love... So, here is my question for you - have you been to Charleston?  What is your favorite place there?
