New Paint to Freshen Up The Kitchen

Don't you love how new paint can totally change the feel of a room?   I finally got around to painting my kitchen.  It used to be yellow - you can see what it looked like here . The new color I selected was Sherwin-Williams Topsail 6217.  It is a very light blue with a touch of green.  It is so soft and refreshing.  It really compliments my gray-blue counter tops and back splash, which isn't my favorite, but looks a lot better with the new paint. Now, I just need to decide what to put on this empty wall. Here are a few things I have been considering: Framing and matting this set of water colored herbs Framing and matting a collection of water color birds.   This shop has some beautiful ones. Hanging an large abstract art piece with pops of bright colors, like in this kitchen: I'm not sure on the source of this picture, I  pinned it  quite awhile ago.   If anyone knows, let me know! You may ...

Fairy Wings For Toddlers

Sorry friends...no design post this week. It's my daughters birthday party this Saturday.  I have been a busy girl making fairy wings for her & all her little friends.  They have turned out pretty cute so far:)  I still have more to make:)    Wish me luck! I'm going to need all the luck I can get with ten little 3 & 4 year olds running around!   (Why did we invite so many kids?  I don't know! Haha!!)

It's Been Awhile...

Sorry for the shortage of posts lately.  We have just had a lot going on!  The biggest thing being buying & moving into our new home! And this is my sweet little girl who broke her arm on moving day...that made the day extra exciting, as I am sure you can imagine!

Turquoise Waters & Sandy Beaches

Last week my husband took me on a cruise to the Caribbean.  It was perfection:)   I'm still adjusting to being back to real life!  I'll be back in a few days with a design post!

My Master Bedroom Update

Awhile back, I posted about picking out colors for my master bedroom.  There were two different directions I was thinking of going.  To see the post click here .  Well, I decided on a color scheme - Navy, Aqua, Green, with pops of purples/berry tones. I already purchased the two green fabrics (for throw pillows) along with the navy striped fabric (to recover two king-sized shams).  The sewing has began, and more pictures to follow! Throw Pillow Makeover

See these pillows below...ya.  They need some help!  I have been dying to recover them for quite awhile now.  They sit on my sofa that I blogged about here .  Finally, help has arrived. For my upcoming birthday, I told my husband I wanted fabric :)  And this is what I chose.  I really the love combination and I am dying to start making them! Unfortunately, they will have to wait just a short while - we are moving into a home this week and I have to pack! I will be sure to let you all see the new and improved pillows once they are done! __________________________________________________ Interested in my design services, visit my website !

My Skirted Sofa

Yesterday, on the Nate Berkus Show, they showed a room makeover where the skirt was removed from a sofa to reveal the legs underneath.  It looked pretty good.  'What a great idea!" I thought to myself,  "I have a skirted sofa not my style that I could try the idea out on!" Here is my sofa as it currently stands: Ya...NOT so cute, right???   There are 4 things I do not love about this sofa: A - The skirt B - The rolled arms C - The puffy back cushions D - The upholstery color There are two good things about this sofa: A - It's comfortable B - Because of it, we have somewhere to sit! On good ole' Photoshop I did a mock up of what it would like if I removed the skirt... ...Not as great as I had hoped.  It's possibly okay (maybe) from the front,  but from the sides the beefy sofa just looks to heavy for those weak-looking, ugly legs. This idea may work for you if you have nice wooden legs to reveal, but if your sofa is l...

My Master Bedroom

For Christmas, my husband gave me a new comforter and sheets - exactly what I wanted (Let's be honest I picked them out:)  While this is not the greatest picture of them, here they are.  Turquoise sheets and comforter with a white duvet cover (not pictured).  Side note: if you need a comforter at an awesome price this comforter is amazing!  We love it! Why these colors? Well, ever since I was a little girl I have been a fish, I LOVE to go swimming.  So this color scheme fits me perfectly.  Every night when I climb into bed I feel like I am getting into a swimming pool.  I feel right at home. source I want to add a few other color accents to the room.  Here are the two different directions I am thinking: -Turquoise with accents of orange, pinks (just a little husband, don't worry:), and greens-  I asked my husband what he thought of the below fabric, and he actually said he'd be okay with it.  All because oran...

GREEN, GREEN, GREEN!!!

This past week felt like a big whirlwind! My husband had job interviews in South Carolina, Nevada, and Arizona. So with good reason, I feel I have neglected my blog! We are jumping on a plane tonight to finally go home. Our daughter has been a champ through it all - she is now a seasoned flyer in her 8.5 months of life! I had never been to the South, and absolutely fell in love with how green it is there! My husband and I kept saying to each other, "I can't believe how many TREES there are here!" I hardly got any pictures ( I don't know where my mind was) but as we were driving around with a realtor I noticed a tree periodically that had huge white blossoms on it that I had never seen before. After inquiring to the realtor if she knew what type of tree it was, I learned that it was the magnolia tree. This isn't a picture I took (remember, I don't know where my mind was!) just a pretty photo of magnolia blossoms found here . Anyway, so in honor of all the...
