Today I toted along Lydia for my design appointment, which will most likely happen fairly often since I don't have someone to leave her with. I borrowed a baby carrier from my sister-in-law so that I could still hold her but have my hands free to take pictures, measure, etc. She had a blast! She loved being in on all the action as I snapped photos and pulled out my paint deck in front of her to match colors.

This is the very cool building in the Avenues that we went to. It is almost 100 years old. The elevator had bars that slide across the opening once you have entered.


My client is still deciding if this is the right home for him. I gave him my thumbs up, as it has beautiful upgrades done my the current owner, along with great views, beautiful wooden floors, and is undoubtedly a beautiful condo! I mean take a peak at this kitchen!

My Favorite Way to Hide Toys in My Family Room

We were is desperate need of something to hide toys in our family room.  In addition, I really needed something to go along the back our loveseat.  Below, is basically the view you get when you walk into our home.  I didn't want people to walk in & the first thing they see is the bare back of our loveseat. One day, I was meandering around TJ Maxx & spotted this cute storage ottoman.  Right away, I knew it needed to come home with me! It has proved to be a fantastic purchase for us!  My kids can easily get toys in & out of it.  It is also a very convenient place to sit & put your shoes on before heading out the door.  In addition, it can easily be moved around to the main sitting area if extra seating is ever needed. You KNOW you have made a good purchase when your husband has said TWICE, "Melissa, buying that ottoman was a really good idea."  Need some other ideas on how to hide toys?   Cute baskets/bo...

Sitting Room Design

 Hi there!  Today I am sharing a front living/sitting room that I am currently working on with a client. The process began by meeting at my client's home and seeing the space in person.  During the consultation, my client was able to tell me what she used the room for, how much seating she wanted, the look she wanted to achieve, her thoughts on possible color schemes, and what she envisioned for the space.  I asked some additional questions, and took pictures & measurements.  With those measurements I created a 2D and 3D floorplan for furniture placement, and then got her approval before proceeding any further. Once the basic floorplan was signed off on, I then began finding furniture pieces and decor for the space.  I came up 2 different options that are very similar but with a few varying pieces.  From those 2 she picked which one she liked best.  She chose the top picture!
