My NOVICA Scarf

When writing blog posts, I usually stick pretty close to interior design related topics - makes sense, since that is what I do and love!  Today, we are going to talk about a little different topic though, if you don't mind!

****There is a giveaway at the end of this post, so keep reading!****

I hope you all are familiar with NOVICA. It is a website where you can purchase art, home decor, jewelry, clothing, gifts, etc., (just to name a few categories!) made by artisans from all over the world!

Twice now, NOVICA has given me the opportunity to pick an item from their website to order for myself. Last time I picked out home decor related items, which I still love.  To see the post where I talked about those items, click here.  This time, I had my eye on jewelry or a fashion accessory.  They have an incredible selection!

After hours of looking (trust me once you start looking at all the beautiful items on their site it is terribly hard to pick just one!!) Finally, I decided on this orange infinity scarf from Guatemala.

(The color I selected is currently unavailable, but this gorgeous fuchsia one is up for grabs!)

As I pulled my package out of it's shipping box this what I was greeted with!

The package also came with a personal note from the artisan...such a nice and personal touch!

Here is me wearing the infinity scarf.
If you normally read my blog, you know that I rarely post pictures of myself, and this is the first time I have EVER modeled something for my blog...hehe:)

If you are unfamiliar with what an infinity scarf is, it is just one continuous scarf (a loop) that you just loop once around your neck.  You don't have to worry about how to tie it like a regular scarf - it's hard to mess up!

I continue to be so impressed with NOVICA!  If you are looking for a unique gift for yourself or others you must check out their website!

Since it is Winter and  the Holiday Season you may want to check out a few of these items:

They also have beautiful Christmas Ornaments...make sure you check those out too!

NOVICA  is giving one of my readers a $50 electronic gift card!

To enter the giveaway simply leave a comment, it's that easy!

This giveaway ends on December 20th, and the winner will be announced on December 21st.

My Favorite Way to Hide Toys in My Family Room

We were is desperate need of something to hide toys in our family room.  In addition, I really needed something to go along the back our loveseat.  Below, is basically the view you get when you walk into our home.  I didn't want people to walk in & the first thing they see is the bare back of our loveseat. One day, I was meandering around TJ Maxx & spotted this cute storage ottoman.  Right away, I knew it needed to come home with me! It has proved to be a fantastic purchase for us!  My kids can easily get toys in & out of it.  It is also a very convenient place to sit & put your shoes on before heading out the door.  In addition, it can easily be moved around to the main sitting area if extra seating is ever needed. You KNOW you have made a good purchase when your husband has said TWICE, "Melissa, buying that ottoman was a really good idea."  Need some other ideas on how to hide toys?   Cute baskets/boxes , wall pockets (for books

Elegant Dining Room Makeover

I had the pleasure of helping a local client decorate their dining room.  The space was pretty plain and lacked personality.  I knew it had possibilities with those tall ceilings and beautiful arched windows. (Before) My client was very budget conscientious so I did not go over board on decor.  I was very thoughtful of the decor I suggested and made sure the items we put in the space really made a 'wow' statement. This is the mood board I put together for my client to show the decor that I thought would look gorgeous in the space. My clients' liked everything, with exception of the chandelier.  They were not in love with the one I selected and it was a little too expensive.  As a replacement, I found this chandelier that I think was even more perfect for the space. So without further adieu, here are the pictures of the completed space! Would you like help making your home a place you love to be??
