Thrifty Finds - you don't always have to spend a lot of money!

Here in the South there are a lot of antique/thrit/flea markets that you don't really find in the West - where I'm from.  I could just wonder through these shops for hours envisioning all the possibilities on how something could be refurbished.

This past week I came across a few items that I couldn't pass up, and surprisingly my husband was right on board!

These cute and comfy chairs were priced at $95 - great price already, right?...but then marked 25% off!  I used to work in a contemporary/modern furniture store in Utah and I sold very similar chairs for $800-$1000.  As soon as I spotted these, I knew they were mine!  They seem to be in great condition, they just need a fresh new upholstery & possibly the arms re-stained/painted.  They will most likely go in the office/playroom (multi-functional :) room.


Is this not a great end table?  I love the straight leg - parson style!  It's a 30" sq. end table and will go in the family room next to my sofa and love seat.

    2nd hand furniture shopping is a way of life for me. I love finding oneofakind pieces and making them my own. Your chairs are spectacular!

    I have become addicted to thrift store shopping over the last year or two. I love the possibilities of transforming something from blah to fab. Great scores!

    Everything in my house is used. This doesn't make furniture manufacturers happy when I say it feels like as moral imperative to me to buy used or find free things to decorate with. I don't want to feel guilty as a consumer for being wasteful, so I leave the buying of new furniture to others!

My Favorite Way to Hide Toys in My Family Room

We were is desperate need of something to hide toys in our family room.  In addition, I really needed something to go along the back our loveseat.  Below, is basically the view you get when you walk into our home.  I didn't want people to walk in & the first thing they see is the bare back of our loveseat. One day, I was meandering around TJ Maxx & spotted this cute storage ottoman.  Right away, I knew it needed to come home with me! It has proved to be a fantastic purchase for us!  My kids can easily get toys in & out of it.  It is also a very convenient place to sit & put your shoes on before heading out the door.  In addition, it can easily be moved around to the main sitting area if extra seating is ever needed. Elegant Dining Room Makeover

I had the pleasure of helping a local client decorate their dining room.  The space was pretty plain and lacked personality.  I knew it had possibilities with those tall ceilings and beautiful arched windows. (Before) My client was very budget conscientious so I did not go over board on decor.  I was very thoughtful of the decor I suggested and made sure the items we put in the space really made a 'wow' statement. This is the mood board I put together for my client to show the decor that I thought would look gorgeous in the space. My clients' liked everything, with exception of the chandelier.  They were not in love with the one I selected and it was a little too expensive.  As a replacement, I found this chandelier that I think was even more perfect for the space.
